Convention: In action films you will expect a lot of base to base shooting and friendly fire.

Convention: In a gangster film you expect to see drug deallers and gang wars with alot of guns and gangsters back stabbing their gang leader.

Connotation: The way his had is stretched makes him look like he is a hero by trying to save the lady from falling off a cliff
